Does a director need to run payroll?
If you take any salary from your company, yes — it must go through PAYE and be reported to HMRC via RTI, even if you’re the only director and the salary is small. We run it for you so it’s done correctly with no effort on your part.
What is the most tax-efficient director’s salary?
Most directors take a salary around the National Insurance thresholds and the rest as dividends, but the optimal figure depends on your profits, other income and whether you can claim the Employment Allowance. We work it out for your situation and run it.
Do I need payroll if I only pay myself dividends?
If you take purely dividends and no salary, you may not need a payroll scheme — but a small salary is often more efficient because it uses your personal allowance and counts towards your State Pension. We’ll advise which is better for you.
Do you handle auto-enrolment for directors?
A sole director with no other staff is usually exempt from auto-enrolment, but the moment you employ someone else the duties apply. We handle the assessment and submissions if and when they do.
